MetÓpera: Madama Butterfly

We are honored to invite you to witness an evening of pure emotion and artistry live from the Metropolitan Theatre in New York City!

Giacomo Puccini's "Madama Butterfly" will be broadcast at the Eugene O'Neill Theater this Saturday, May 11 at 10:55 am.

On this occasion, we will be privileged to witness performances by three extraordinary sopranos: Aleksandra Kurzak, Eleonora Buratto and Asmik Grigorian, who will make her long-awaited Met debut, taking on the demanding role of Cio-Cio-San, the loyal geisha at the heart of Puccini's devastating tragedy. Tenors Matthew Polenzani and Jonathan Tetelman co-star as the callous American naval officer Pinkerton, whose betrayal destroys her.

Mezzo-sopranos Elizabeth DeShong and Eve Gigliotti will share the role of the unyielding maiden Suzuki, while baritone Davide Luciano and Lucas Meachem will bring to life U.S. Consul Sharpless.

Acclaimed maestro Xian Zhang will make her Met debut conducting Anthony Minghella's vivid production, promising an unforgettable experience that will transport us to 19th century Japan.
